On January 22, BORISTENE organized a documentary film screening dedicated to a key yet oft en overlooked theme for understanding the present: the construction of Russian imperial identity and the long-term shaping of Russia’s cultural and political self-narrative over more than 300 years.
The film brought together contributions from international intellectuals, historians, philosophers, and scholars specializing in Russian studies and propaganda mechanisms. Through rigorous analysis, it explored how myths of cultural greatness, civilization, and natural power were constructed and disseminated over time.

Presented with Italian dubbing, the documentary offered viewers analytical tools to look beyond surface images, deconstruct dominant narratives, and better understand how cultural storytelling influences political power, collective perception, and historical interpretation.
The evening continued with an aperitif and a moderated discussion with the audience, creating an open space for dialogue, reflection, and collective engagement with the themes raised in the film.
