Lecture of Viktoriya Zvarych. Ukraine is Ukraine Festival

On May 10, we held the first day of the “Ukraine is Ukraine” festival in Milan's city center.

The second part of the event began with a lecture by Viktoriia Zvarych, a former ballerina of the Lviv National Opera and researcher of Ukrainian ballet.

‍

She spoke about Ukraine’s connection to the world of ballet, mentioning figures such as Serge Lifar, Bronislava Nijinska, and Sonia Delaunay.

A significant part of Viktoriia Zvarych’s lecture was devoted to debunking the myth of “Russian ballet” and explaining how it became part of the imperial narrative.

Alongside Viktoriia Zvarych, the festival also featured Yaroslav Hrytsak and Natalia Kryvda. The second part of “Ukraine is Ukraine” was also dedicated to the story of travel blogger Sofia Yablonska and the remarkable places of Ukraine.

The event was held under the patronage of the Comune di Milano, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Italian Republic, the Consulate General of Ukraine in Milan, and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
