Is Hollywood really only American?

Many of the faces and talents who built American cinema came from elsewhere, and among them are artists born in Ukraine, whose stories are often left untold.

‍

From Ukraine to Hollywood is a 2019 documentary that follows the journey of Ukrainian actors, directors, and creatives who entered the American film industry, showing how they have contributed over time to shaping what we now know as international cinema.

‍

The film, directed by Stanislav Suknenko and Galyna Kuvivchak-Sakhno and produced by Fresh Production Group with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, combines archival footage and personal testimonies, including that of acting coach Ivana Chubbuck, to reconstruct personal stories marked by migration, choices, and change.

Watching it offers a different perspective, bringing together culture, identity, and industry, and helping us see Hollywood with new eyes.
